Honoring Our Founders’ Commitment to Equality, Inclusion, Safety and Security

When we think of Presidents’ Day, ads for furniture sales and other “amazing deals” spring to mind, yet, how often do we pause to reflect on the fact that this is a day honoring the significant accomplishments of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln?

Washington, the first U.S. president, served two four-year terms and is known as “the founding father” due to his leading role in forming the country and helping to set the foundation of the U.S. Constitution. This document is the supreme law of the United States of America, consisting of seven articles which detail the national frame of government. Without these being widely agreed upon by lawmakers, mayhem might have ensued in this country.

As we celebrate this holiday, we at StrikeForce hope to emulate a key trait our first president is remembered for, establishing guidelines for order, protection, and the safety of the people. Like Washington’s work would lead to establishing a constitution, we hope our best practices for video conferencing will ensure order and security in the work world, especially now with much of the world conducting highly proprietary meetings while working remotely.

As mentioned in our earlier blog post for MLK day,  racism and notions of classism and general other-isms have always been a problem in the U.S. and worldwide. While Lincoln can be credited for his devotion to the preservation of the Union, the vindication of democracy, and the death of slavery, there is no question that collectively, we as American citizens need to carry on the work he began to honor his legacy.

Lincoln’s most significant achievement as president was his ability to energize and mobilize the nation by appealing to its best ideals while acting “with malice towards none,” striving for a more perfect, more just, and more enduring Union. Until his life was tragically cut short, he remained committed to equality and safety. In our way, we at StrikeForce Technologies hope that by providing a tiered and structured system for the most cyber secure video conferencing meetings, we are easing the fears of many Americans (and those overseas) who need to conduct critical business daily without risk, the feeling of being threatened, or in jeopardy.

So while you may enjoy that sale at H&M or the 75 percent off code for Ikea, do not forget what Presidents’ Day is truly about. Join us in thinking of ways to ensure the safety, security, and inclusion of people of all races, religions, sexualities, and different walks of life. Think of the secure framework Washington helped establish, and Lincoln aimed to uphold. Therefore, StrikeForce calls on all video conferencing vendors to follow our lead and make their conferencing platforms cyber secure because the fight against bigotry and hate is what this day truly represents, and we must adapt that to the modern era.
